The Florida Attorney General's Office has just announced that it has settled its investigation into their foreclosure related practices with notorious Florida "foreclosure mill" Marshall C. Watson. The settlement calls for a $2 million payment and imposing certain business conduct requirements. Half of the $2 million payment will go to the Florida Bar Foundation to continue the Florida Attorney General Mortgage Foreclosure Grant Program which provides funding for legal aid attorney positions that represent low-income homeowners facing foreclosure throughout the state. This is the first such settlement stemming from the investigations. In the last year the Florida Attorney General has announced investigations into the foreclosure practices of eight "foreclosure mills."
